How I Got Here
Maybe you're worrying so much of the time that it's hard to get through your day. Maybe anxiety has been running the show for so long you've stopped remembering what it felt like before. Maybe motherhood changed you in ways you didn't expect, and you're still finding your footing. Maybe you're carrying a grief no one around you seems to notice.
These aren't unfamiliar stories to me. Throughout my career, I have been a counselor in higher education, private practice, and community mental health. Across every one of my career roles, one thing has held true: healing happens faster when your therapist already understands where you're coming from culturally, linguistically, personally.
You don't need to explain your culture, your family, or your nervios to me. You just need a space to finally exhale.
Working With Me
Before we talk about strategies or tools, I want to understand your story, not just the symptoms, but the life around them. What you've been carrying. What's already worked for you, and what hasn't. The patterns that show up when things get hard, and where you think they came from.
There's no judgment in this room. You won't have to perform having it together, or explain the parts of your life that don't translate easily. We go at your pace, and we build the work together. You're not a passive participant in your own healing.
As I get to know you, I draw on approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Interpersonal Psychotherapy, and Mindfulness-Based interventions depending on what you need. The goal isn't just symptom relief. It's helping you understand who you are underneath all of it, or who you're becoming.
Why I do This Work
I know that in many Mexican-American and Latino families, conversations about mental health weren't always part of growing up. You may have heard phrases like "Échale ganas," "No pasa nada," or "Son chiflazones." Often, those messages came from love and resilience yet they also made it difficult to talk openly about anxiety, grief, depression, or emotional overwhelm.
My own life has also taught me that joy and pain can exist at the same time. Shortly after welcoming my second child, my family experienced a profound loss. Navigating grief while embracing new motherhood deepened my empathy for what it means to hold two things at once, and reinforced something I now build my practice around: you don't have to choose between healing and living. You can do both, together.
That perspective shapes the way I show up for every person who trusts me with their story.
Con claridad. Con compasión. Contigo.
